Christmas in Utah

Nixon, Sadie and I went down to Utah a few weeks before Christmas to spend some time with my family and enjoy some of the fun holiday traditions we have. First stop we flew in and had a quick nap and then it was off to the candy cane party at Gramsy's. I love the candy cane party and it is such a fun tradition. The whole extended family tries to make it and we need all the help we can get:)
Here are some of 'the girls' in the kitchen making candy.
Me, Katie, Jill and Nana
My uncle Mark LOVES babies, and I think Sadie liked him too:)

Alec pulling the HOT candy

Katie and Jill did the slab part and I was in the kitchen mixing the candy....and maybe making a mess as well.

The sharpers of the candy canes....very important job!!

Katie trying to 'save' a batch.....it's ready to come off, it's ready to come off.

There might have been a 'small' fire in the kitchen....and it might have been my fault....thankfully there was some baking soda around and we used it.....twice because the fire started again.
Next time we are only going to do three batches.....or four but FIVE is out of the question.

Gramsy holding Sadie Sue for the first time!!

All hands on deck....all hands on deck!!!
Candy canes are all about timing, cooking it to the right temp them pouring it onto the marble and letting it set for the right amount of time and flipping it and turning it into a ball, pulling it until it's not too hard, stripes go on and then pull it into sticks to shape...and don't be too long at any of these or it's ruined.

Nixon thought all the excitement was fun, he kept running around and going into the laundry room....where it was quiet. Smart boy!

Sadie getting some love from the three girls.

Lilly and Sadie

Hailey loves to color and draw, she is very good at it too!

I took some pic's of Sadie at Nana's that turned out SO adorable, she is now 2 months old.

She just started smiling a few days before this picture. I love the smiles:)

This is also one of my favorite outfits!!

The girls wanted in on the photo session.

She still doesn't really like being on her tummy, she is getting better at holding her head up, but we don't stay here very long!

On Saturday we had the SANTA PARTY, it's a big tradition in my family. We have had the same Santa come for over 23 years, he is awesome and we love Santa.
Here is Sadie and Katie at the party.

Gramsy is telling a story and the girls are all listening to her, I thought it was so adorable.

Hailey the photo girl.

Katie, Tim and Sadie

After we have breakfast, Santa arrives at the house:)

Nixon and Mac are excited....that he is outside.

All the kids ready to hear what Santa has to say.

Izabelle gets to wear his scarf and red coat.

Then Santa gets into his bag and hands out hats and instruments for each kid.

The kids are waiting their turn, I think they are so cute all sitting there. Sometimes I wonder what they are thinking.

Nixon's turn for a hat and instrument.

He was happy for Santa to be there but I could tell he was a little nervous too.

Santa is ready for his band to start playing.
Uncle Tim even gets a hat.

Sadie wants to be back asleep:)

Wally (he can not keep his eyes open in any picture, silly Wally) and Nana

Santa's band

Singing and Dancing

Our family with Santa, how cute:)

Katie, Me, Casey and Sadie....just the girls!

Gramsy enjoying Sadie.

Santa brought these red suits and made us fill them with balloons. He picked two very tough boys to play, Tim and Tony and they get to wrestle.
Here is Tim loaded and ready!

Tony getting ready, stuffin' those balloons into his suit.

Tim and Tony had to wrestle and try and pop balloons. I laughed so hard, it was hilarious.

We filled Tim's balloons not very full so they were harder to pop....and it was easier to blow them up. We didn't know it would make it easier for Tim to WIN!!

Tim is the WINNER!!

Me and Nixon.

Santa then told the kids a story.

They were so cute all sitting around and listening.

Nixon loves his cousin Bella.

They all got to keep some 'Santa money' from the treasure box.

Present time. Nixon was first to get his present.

Cheese with Santa.

Nixon was so good sitting on his lap, I think it helped that he could see the present.

The rule is you can't open your present until Santa gives out ALL the presents and leaves. Since Nixon was first he had a long wait, I was so proud of him for being so patient.

All of us with Santa.

Wally, Santa and Nana....laughing too hard to get a picture.

Katie with her girls!

Nixon still waiting, for being only two he was super good at waiting to open his present. Everyone kept telling him to wait, it was kinda sad...but man he was awesome!!

One, Two, Three.....OPEN.

A garbage truck that makes noise.....he was so excited.

It's tradition to make gingerbread cookies after the Santa party every year. The kids love it and it is a lot of fun. This was the first year I let Nixon participate....he thought it was great to cut out cookies and roll the dough.

Everyone at the table making cookies, how cute.

Nixon was adorable making cookies, I think he ate some dough too along the way:)

Me and my boy!

Nana loves this time of year and this fun tradition.

Nana with Sadie Sue

Me and Sadie....she is so cute!

We went over to Tim and Casey's for breakfast one morning and Nixon was excited to see their dogs, as usual. Giving kisses to Lucy.

Loves to Molly.

Chloe was so cute with Sadie, just talking to her on the table. She loved all the attention.

We had a Santa party at my dad's too.... double Santa...Nixon was super excited.

My dad holding Sadie, she is such a mommy's girl already.

Just the boys!

Sadie and Chloe up at Gramsy's for coffee one morning.

Nice pic of Nixon.

While we were all at Gramsy's it became a hair cutting party in the kitchen:) Connee was first!

Then of course Nixon...he always needs a haircut. His hair grows SUPER fast and is SO thick.
The sucker however was not the smartest of ideas while hair is flying everywhere.

Cheese!

Nixon got some goggles too, now the boys are ready to swim....in the snow.

Silly boys!

We had so much fun in Utah for Christmas, thank you everyone for such a fun time.
